UBSBPublishing editors are seeking submissions for a new anthology. Here's your chance to get some of your best and worst works of fiction published for a good cause. The best working title would be mad prose, mad poetry anthology!

Submit the first 4 lines of your fictive novel and/or poem to participate in this anthology.

This is your time to revisit the mistakes and mishaps of your holiday planning and other special occasions. While you are at it, you should also exact revenge by taking on the uncle, band leader, grandma, in-laws or out-laws, grandpa, cousins, brother and sister, family members and neighbors who destroy and poison the atmosphere at your holiday celebration, wedding planning, bar mitzvah, quincenera, coming-out party, communion, graduation ceremonies etc. Whatever went wrong during one of your meaningful events or moments that you can now blame on someone or a group of uncaring people and seek your sweet revenge in literary forms can be your subject matter. Please don't be too specific as far as naming names! Just be creative. Humor, a healing tool, must be the sole premises and essential ingredient of all submissions. (Now that you have gone through the experience, make the best of it!) If you can only write good prose and poetry about your destroyed special occasions, you can send in your entries too.

The best entries will be published in a book titled, "Bad Prose, Bad Poetry: Healing After Destroyed Special Occasions" with dishonorable mentions to the 4th, 3rd, and 2nd places. The winner will receive a free printed copy of the book and equal dishonorable mentions.

Submissions

We are looking for tasteful 4-line poems and stories. No restrictions on style. We will look for authenticity and originality. Your submissions will be reviewed and edited only by the editors of UBSPPublishing. Payments for your contribution will be given to you as dishonorable mention and credits in the book. Only the winner will receive a printed copy! No other forms of payments or compensation. The selections by the editorial team are final!

Rights: We are interested in first rights, worldwide. Please do not send previously published material or simultaneous submissions. You will be free to republish your contribution, in English, elsewhere in the future, but we will retain rights for any and all future printings and translations of the collection.

Remember there won't be any costs to you! Only your chance to see your words in print! You will retain rights to your 4-line story or poem. By submitting to us, you'll have indicated that you have agreed with our terms and conditions.

Deadline: Spring 2006. Tentative Publication Date: Fall 2006

Proceeds:

After taking care of the publishing costs, the rest of the proceeds will go to two missionary schools in Haiti and Guatemala to purchase supplies and pay teachers. After September 11, their sponsoring funds nearly dried up.
